Telling Your Story with Collage: An Introduction to An Ancient Art

Welcome to the wonderful world of collage! In this two-day workshop participants will explore the ancient art of collage. Students will see examples of different types of collage, learn about the origins of collage and check out some of the instructors favorite artists.
Ann will then let students in on the secrets of discovering the best places to hunt for collage materials, how to prepare the materials, what kind of substrated (backgrounds) to use, and what tools students can use in the creative process. Students will also learn to use photos and image transfers in their work. Ann will bring many materials but students are encouraged to bring their own ephemera (items of collectible memorabilia) to use in their collages.
Materials to Bring: Scissors, small brush, ruler. If you have photos you would like to use please bring them. You may want to photocopy the photos because you may have to cut them up. Instructor will also have some photocopied photos you will be welcome to use.
